This part of the site will remain "under construction" for some time. For now, I will occasionally put up short reviews of albums I am listening to at the moment. Who knows what else will end up here in future...

Revolution Vol. 2 Immortal Technique - Revolutions Vol. 2
Aggressive, intelligent rap which shows just what urban music should be. The lyrics are inspired by in-depth knowledge and vitriolic hatred of rap cliches. The production is as good as it can possibly be, turning an underground artist into a major spokesman. Hip Hop doesn't get any better than this.
(Early Public Enemy, Talib Kweli, NWA, The Goats, Arrested Development)

Motion Sickness Bright Eyes - Motion Sickness
A journey through folk, country and alt. rock, this live album reinforces BE's political lyrics and independent musical style beautifully.Weak in places, this album is none the less one of the best albums of the last few years.
(Violent Femmes, John Prine, Bob Dylan)

Modern Times Dylan, Bob - Modern Times
Powerful, rock-driven songs re-establish Dylan as the master storyteller with a talent for reinvention. Political in places, Dylan cloaks what he has to say in powerful metaphors. And he still writes the best lyrics next to Townes Van Zandt.
(Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty)

Everyone Is Here Finn Brothers - Everyone is Here
The masterminds behind Crowded House and Split Enz return with harmonious rock tinged with sadness. Evocative lyrics benefit from the brothers' harmonies. Well-produced, the album has a raw edge which reinforces the power of the songs.
(Crowded House, Pearl Jam)
